lack the cynicism
of the world,
the bitterness that i sometimes see

tell me that i am good,
and when you do,
i believe you
because i know that you wouldn't lie

are pure
but not naive
and intelligent
but not skeptical
and interesting
but not mysterious
and funny
but not crude
and beautiful
but not intimidating

you
do not have to learn
from your own mistakes
because you know how to do
what you've not done
and how to use what you have got

you
love and you are unembarrassed
you don't fear expression

you
will listen to my question
and you will know that i am serious
about this small insecurity
and you will not laugh
and you will not think less of me for it
i trust you will not judge
you will reassure me that we are human
and life is never quite perfect
but sometimes it is very good

like the rolling waters
the soothing sound
