homesick

the lulling melodies
of this acoustic string
functioning as an underlying form
to perform as a foundation for the
ebb and flow of note returning into the same note
after a short interval departure
and that unexpectedly familiar culmination
as you now strum across the pattern you picked

i feel a sense of nostalgia as i listen
an intrusion on a personal forgotten memory
as if i'm a passenger
riding away from a place where i am known
into a place where i know alone
