I’ve grown accustomed to you
they say that’s desensitization
they say that’s why there are reminders
that’s why something happens when
children die
Something just born does not usually get cheated out of life.

Complacency is fatal,
that is why there is memory

I’m growing comfortable with you
you’re becoming accustomed to me
your words are reducing
every time you give them off
heat and energy dissipates
like evaporated water
diffusing in the vastness

every day I hope
something new will hit me
I’m afraid
of becoming blind
of senses being dulled by experience
cluttered by reason
shutting up, off, in--

perception
invites nothing but itself,
Selfish reason which denies belief
I am avoiding the impassable solidness by constant fear,
only to achieve irony—opposite desired effect
