when the snow
dampened sound,
the winter dampened light
and a quiet greyness absorbed perception
and morning seemed earlier
and night seemed later
above the mountains,
time is altered today
by the ascent of brightness,
lighting the day,
and evening is dusky
and the earth and sky reach
for each other
extending, approaching union
the perpetual attempt at harmony
coincides for a season
